Vat Dweam Wiffin A Dweam

Just got back from the wedding and, if you don't mind, I'm gonna start this entry by gushing about the bride. Whitney has been one of my dearest friends since we were both very young. Our mothers became friends when they taught elementary school together in the 70's, and a happy bit of geography led to our families meeting at least once or twice a year until my sophomore year of high school. Mine wasn't the easiest of childhoods, but none of the hardships or turmoil I bore ever factore into our relationship, and, as a consequence, she figures prominently in most of my happiest memories of that time.

All of this is to explain why, during the wedding ceremony, I may very well have started crying before the bride's mother. I didn't exactly turn around to check, but it was probably pretty close. I can count on the fingers of one hand the times in my life I've shed tears of joy, so for upping that count at least, Saturday will always remain in my memories.

But enough about my sorry ass. Whitney and her new husband Chris are by all accounts the happiest of couples, and I couldn't wish them any better. I said as much at the rehearsal dinner, and at the reception, but I say it again now because the words can't even begin to touch the depth of my feeling.

Whitney, Chris, you guys have been blessed enough to find the greatest thing this world has to offer in each other. There are kings, presidents, business moguls, movie stars, and yes, best-selling authors who can't say as much. Enjoy your happily ever after, and thank you for giving me faith that I will one day find mine.
