Life Imitates Tart

So, I already blogged about my piece in this month's Sequential Tart. Here's an excerpt:

"I'm not a parent myself, but I have a good imagination and a propensity for sticking myself in hypothetical situations. If a kid came up to me with a picture of two teen superheroes kissing, and asked me what it's all about, my answer would be simple. "They're in love." And the kid, being a kid, would probably respond, "Boys don't fall in love with boys, they fall in love with girls." To which I would say, "Sometimes they do, but sometimes they fall in love with other boys. Just like some girls fall in love with other girls." And the kid, being a kid, would say, "Oh." They do that a lot when you tell them something new."

And, just now, I read this over at the continuing Hulkling/Asgardian discussion over on CBR:

"Well, here's the thing. I'm 28. And gay. When I was 6, according to my mother (A devout Baptist, by the way), I went to her and asked her, "What's a homosexual?" She was shocked, because I used that word, not gay, not queer, not faggot. She thought about it, and told me, "Sometimes, a boy loves a boy, or a girl loves a girl, just like I love your daddy." And, like most six year olds when given a simple answer, I said, "Oh" and went on about my day."

Man, I love being right.

Damn you, Michael. I was completely content to live my life without clicking on that thread...

I'm still shocked and saddened by the reaction to YOUNG AVENGERS among... certain mindsets.
