Foraging For Comics: The February Image Solicits

It's the time of the season for loving. And for comics.

SAM & TWITCH: THE BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS COLLECTION, VOL. 1 TP - GEM
written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
art by ASHLEY WOOD, ALBERTO PONTICELLI, CLAYTON CRAIN & ALEX MALEEV
cover by GREG CAPULLO

Can you say BENDIS? Nine issues of what BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS does best - kick ass crime fiction! Collected for the first time in full-color issues 1-9 of his legendary SAM & TWITCH run. Featuring the acclaimed "Udaku Hunter" story arc, an ASHLEY WOOD cover gallery and other special bonuses. A must-have collection for any fan!

Ah, for the days when Bendis was a little-known figure whose claim to fame was being screwed over by Todd McFarlane on this series. Kind of odd that they've waited this long to trade this stuff, given that Bendis has absolutely no association with Image now.

PUT THE BOOK BACK ON THE SHELF: A BELLE & SEBASTIAN ANTHOLOGY GN

by CHARLES BROWNSTEIN & DAVE CROSLAND, IAN CARNEY & JONATHAN EDWARDS, CATIA CHEN, LEELA CORMAN, BRUNO D'ANGELO, JEN DE GUZMAN & BRIAN BELEW, JANET HARVEY & LAURENN McCUBBIN, KAKO, JACOB MAGRAW, B. CLAY MOORE & HECTOR CASANOVA, ANDE PARKS & CHRIS SAMNEE, JAMIE S. RICH & MARK ELLERBY, MARK RICKETTS & LEANN BUCKLEY, RICK SPEARS & ROB G, ANDI WATSON, JOEY WEISER and others

With their infectious brand of Scottish indie pop, Belle and Sebastian have been cult and critical favorites for years. The band's colorful lyrics and gorgeous, full-bodied melodies have provided Image Comics with the inspiration for a new kind of comics anthology.

With PUT THE BOOK BACK ON THE SHELF, a stellar collection of independent comic creators and cartoonists put their own spins on a cross section of Belle and Sebastian's songs, crafting stories inspired by the band's music, drawn from the band's entire catalog. PUT THE BOOK BACK ON THE SHELF debuts just in time for Belle & Sebastian's latest release and provides the perfect compliment to your listening pleasure.

An interesting idea. It'd be fun to do this with other catalogs, too; I myself would love to write a story based around "Eleanor Rigby."
