"Grow up, pal. People get the stories they deserve."
Since less is more (especially since I'm emotionally drained after doing a bunch of other writing), I'll simply outline some greatest hits:
Ebony demanding his share of the residuals from Spirit brand Pork & Beans.
Ginger Coffee.
Hassan Hassan, the world's greatest secret agent.
The purest example of love in the book being between a man and his vulture.
The cover to every issue.
Spirit's girlfriend Ellen's constant presence in his life, even when some other chick is shoving her tongue down his throat.
Being able to believe the Spirit in all three of the summer special stories is the same person, despite their wildly different styles.
Issue 6 in its entirety.
Issue 10 in its entirety.
Self-contained stories that form a cohesive whole when read together.
Panels and layouts that break with convention while still conveying the story clearly.
A seamless blend of noir and whimsy. (PS: Frank Miller's going to get it wrong.)
Damn, does he look good in that suit.
