And now for something completely different.
The good folks at 826NYC are holding a Dungeons and Dragons Charity Benefit on May 9th. Assorted nerds from throughout the Five Boroughs (some of them purporting to be women) will assemble to roll dice, eat corn chips, drink caffeinated beverages, and basically be humongous fucking nerds for five hours to raise money for free creative writing workshops for NYC-area public school students.
The money is raised kind of like a Walkathon, but with a twist: money donated on behalf of a player will be translated into gold pieces, with which characters can purchase helpful items, spells and weapons, and bribe the Dungeon Master. (I made up that last part. Unless the DM is bribable, in which case, woo-hoo!)
Anyhow, as you may have guessed, I am indeed taking part. Brother Norrilus Theck, a good-natured but naive cleric of the lesser goddess Pelyria the Well-Meaning, will take part in the quest, but he can't succeed without your help! And neither can the kids, so click on that link up there to donate to Brother Theck and save my ass when the orcs start wondering who stole their pie.
