If superheroes are going to die (and I think that horse is well and truly out of the corral by now), they ought to die saving the lives of innocents. Not, y'know, brutally murdered by teams of assassins hired by an archenemy, or as collateral damage in a conflict between two all-but-unrelated groups of superbeings, or after being turned into living weapons by alien invaders posing as their ex-husbands, or anything else where their death doesn't really serve any purpose other than to boost sales or "show we mean business," whatever that means.
Just a thought.
