Well, I'm Back

Spent a large portion of the weekend out. Saturday, I went to Ms. Jane Vincent's gradauation-cum-leaving-the city-soon party at her place in Queens. I met a goodly number of the friends she's made, as well as some members of her family, all of whom were uniformly nice (and the females of whom were uniformly hot. My gal Jane knows how to pick 'em). Had a lot of interesting conversations on topics ranging from philosophy to comics to growing up with gay parents. Several people eventually migrated to the roof, a trip I considered but ended up not making due to equal parts cowardice and manning the buzzer for some people who went out to the steps for some cigs. The last remnants of the party eventually adjourned to Jane's room; I crashed on the couch.

Spent some more time with Jane and the last stragglers in the morning, then headed into Midtown to meet some CBR people. In attendance were Morts, Lena, Aaron aka Sir Tim Drake, Mark & Christine aka Bouncing Boy and Rallura, and Morts' non-CBR friend David, whom we relentlessly mocked. (Not true, except in the sense that everyone was relentlessly mocked.) We had lunch at a local deli and acted several years below our ages at the big Toys-R-Us zstore in Times Square. After that, Lena ditched us for a boy, the tart, and we headed to a double feature of Star Wars and Hitchhikers. I had seen both before, but not with fellow ubergeeks, so it was almost but not really like seeing them again for the first time. I also saw some new trailers, including War of the Worlds (yawn), Rent (apparently, you measure a year by squeezing as much heartfelt sentiment into the trailer as you can), and The Dukes of Hazzard (looks like it might be a decent DVD rental).

But wait, there's more! After the films, Brian Cronin (he of the snark free blogness) and his girlfriend ambushed us outside the theater. Morts was summoned home by the little woman, and Aaron had a bus to catch, but the remainder of us had dinner at a diner on 46th & 8th. And that was that; Mark and Rally went home, Brian and Gina were due at a cabaret show, and I was pooped.

I left the apartment around 5 on Saturday; I returned at roughly 9:30 on Sunday. And after I wrestled my AC unit back into the window, I was done. Brief reading, then bed.

Today, I get to make up for all that by doing my laundry and grocery shopping, in addition to the other sundry shite. Yay, me.

Everybody's working for the weekend...

Damn, I missed Brian and Gina!

P.S. I refute 'tart', you bastard! I'm so kicking your ass during MoCCA. Watch your back!

I got your back, Michael. We'll beat Lena down if she gets fiesty...

So you didn't like the RENT trailer, I take it? I still haven't seen it (I haven't been to an actual movie in months), but it's something I'm curious about--I love the stage production, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will translate into a good film musical.

Lena: Bring it.

Ed: I just think it shoved the sentiment down my throat while yelling "You WILL have a lifechanging emotional experience at this movie, dammit!"

[most ghetto voice]Oh it's already been brought![/most ghetto voice]

Is there a good place on line to find movie trailers?

I'm pretty sure the only place you can find them is apple.com.
