So, they're making a movie out of 1408.
1408 is a Stephen King short story, collected in paperback in Everything's Eventual (which, by stunning coincidence, has just been re-released in paperback). While the history of King film adaptations is full of bad ideas, this one seems like a topper. Not only is it a short story with not enough material to fill 90 minutes, not only does it take place almost entirely within a single hotel room, not only is the entire latter half of the story told entirely by a damaged, unclear audiotape, but the climax of the story is left out entirely. It's an exercise in leaving horror to the imagination.
In other words, it'd make an unfilmable, unwatchable movie. So, of course, they went ahead and made it.
Humans.
